UNIFEM is the women's fund at the
United Nations. It provides financial and technical assistance
to innovative programmes and strategies that promote women's
human rights, political participation and economic security.
We work in partnership with UN organizations, governments
and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and networks
to achieve
social justice and gender equality.
The Caribbean office serves the need of women and women's
organisations in 26 territories under our mandate, which
is
to create an awareness of gender issues in the region among
UN agencies, government, NGOs and the private sector.
This
awareness is reflected in their policies and programmes,
and which enhances the quality of life of all persons in
Caribbean
Society.
