Facilitating Women’s Political and Economic Empowerment in the Caribbean Through Communications: Phase 2: Promoting CEDAW in the Caribbean

(1999 – 2000)

Objective: To contribute to women’s political and economic empowerment by promoting gender-sensitive policy development and reform.

Main elements:

• Regional Workshop on Reporting on CEDAW for Women’s Bureaux and NGOs, St. Kitts/Nevis.

• National workshops on Reporting on women’s human rights, with a focus on CEDAW, St Vincent & the Grenadines and St Lucia.

• Sub-regional workshop on Promoting CEDAW in the Media for media practitioners from the British Overseas Territories and the Leeward Islands.

• Regional Workshop on Caribbean Women & Trade Unions.

• Development of materials for video dramatic skits on HIV/AIDS & CEDAW.

• CD package of radio infomercials on CEDAW and a Discussion Guide.
