A Life Free of Violence: It’s Our Right

Objective: To create a sustainable knowledge base on achievements, challenges, constraints and strategies that support improved advocacy and action towards ending VAW; and to promote the effective implementation of legislation aimed at ending VAW.

Main elements:

• Materials generated from previous activities on EVAW in the Caribbean disseminated to key partners and stakeholders as tools for training and advocacy.

• Caribbean EVAW Assessment carried out, in collaboration with the ECLAC Sub-regional Headquarters for the Caribbean, encompassing a regional scan of EVAW actions between 1992 and 2003 and an in-depth assessment of three Caribbean countries - Dominica, Jamaica and Suriname.

• Phase II of research into the root causes of gender-based violence in Barbados completed.
